DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING, EVALUATION AND EARLY EDUCATION RESOURCES
Developmental screening/assessment and recommendations regarding early intervention services are available
without cost to the family or third-party payer(s). A child may be referred for screening or evaluation whenever
a concern is raised, whether or not there is a medical diagnosis.
Each school district in Thurston County provides evaluation and early intervention services for children from
birth through age six. Developmental screening and evaluation is provided by a team of professionals that
includes early childhood special educators, school psychologists, speech/language therapists, and occupational or
physical therapists.
