Where we ALL belong!
We are committed to a culture of belonging. We strive to provide a warm and welcoming space for the families we serve and the staff we employ. We believe in celebrating diversity. We believe in equitable treatment for all. We believe in inclusion and accessibility. We believe in embracing people for who they are and what they bring to the world. We believe all people have the right to be empowered, encouraged, and supported. We believe SSP2P is a place where we ALL belong.

New details provide much-needed information on the Trump Administration's decision to lay off nearly all the staff in the Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP).
Recent reports indicate that all but a half-dozen employees in OSEP will remain in their positions once the layoffs take effect, a reduction of about 95% since the start of 2025.
The situation in Washington, D.C., feels chaotic, but the reality in this Washington is very different. OSPI remains committed to supporting students with disabilities, regardless of what's happening in our nation's capital.
In this video, Tania May, Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Services, discusses the layoffs, their potential impact, and the steps our state is taking to protect students. Click HERE to watch Facebook video.

A letter from our Executive Director, Kim Smith
September 23, 2025
Dear Families and Staff,
At South Sound Parent to Parent, our mission has always been — and will always be — to support families raising children with disabilities. We recognize that the world is full of information, opinions, and unfortunately, misinformation. Recently, conversations have circulated linking autism with certain medications such as Tylenol. We want to address this openly and clearly.
We believe it is important to follow science, not propaganda or political rhetoric, when it comes to understanding disabilities and supporting families. Autism is a natural part of human diversity. It is not caused by Tylenol or any other simple explanation that headlines or social media may promote.
As an organization, we stand with and for families. We provide resources, support, and community rooted in compassion, respect, and evidence-based understanding. We will not engage in debates that diminish the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities or allow unfounded claims to cloud the love and support every child deserves.
Thank you for trusting us to walk alongside you. We are proud to be part of a community that values inclusion, science, and, above all, families.
Kim Smith, Executive Director
South Sound Parent to Parent
